Emma Young truly embodies the spirit of a maker. She is an artist, designer, farmer, and local poet laureate in addition to running a vintage letterpress studio. I followed her this summer on a creative journey in her home garden, where she grows specific flower varietals prone to rich colors that she turns into pigmented dyes in her greenhouse. She then uses these dyes to hand make paper out of flax fibers and dyes yarn to weave unique textile pieces. No– she did not sheer the sheep to make the yarn, but maybe next year!
